Bed & Breakfast POUNAMU has four Guest Rooms.
All rooms have access to a kitchenette with free use of tea and coffee making facilities as well as small kitchen appliances and a large double fridge to store your food or to provide you with chilled water & ice cubes.

Piwakawaka room Room: POUNAMU


Meaning
'Pounamu'
Pounamu is several types of hard, durable and highly valued and found in New Zealand. Pounamu is the Maori name; the rocks are also known as "greenstone". Pounamu is generally found in rivers and stones which are difficult to identify without cutting them open.

Facilities
Modern, luxurious & spacious bedroom ensuite (toilet, shower and vanity) with a comfortable queen bed & nightstands, glass top dining table and chairs or comfy armchairs,
French wardrobe, TV & DVD, ceiling fan, French doors with access to garden. Seperate entrance.

Pounamu room


Meaning
'Piwakawaka'
Known for its friendly ‘cheet cheet’ call and energetic flying antics, the aptly named fantail is one of the most common and widely distributed native birds on the New Zealand mainland. It is easily recognized by its long tail which opens to a fan.

Facilities
Huge 'Stargazer' bedroom with en-suite bathroom offering a large shower, cabinet, double vanity & toilet. The bedroom has a large wardrobe, flat screen, nightstands, dresser and a six feet king size bed with two separate mattresses & electric base sets for top sleeping comfort and uninterrupted views of our native bush. French doors give access to private balcony and small deck.

Meaning
'Paua'
Paua is a univalve shellfish that lives in rocky, coastal areas at depths between one and fifteen metres. It grazes on seaweed. The New Zealand blackfoot paua with its spectacular blue/green iridescent shell is unique to this country.

Meaning
'Ponga'
The Ponga is probably the most well-known of the NZ Tree Ferns due to it’s status as New Zealand’s national symbol. The distinctive fronds of this variety form a beautiful shuttle-cock shape, turn silvery white on their undersurface as they age, and reach up to 10 metres in height.
